Polytech (www.polytech.se), a Cedip Infrared Systems company, has announced the COBOLT 350 - a high performance, multi-sensor stabilised gimbal for airborne surveillance, search, rescue and law enforcement missions.
For airborne systems, size and weight are of considerable importance. Lower weight and size means improved lift margin and reduced drag. Measuring only 350mm (13 inches) external diameter and constructed from lightweight high stiffness composite materials the affordable COBOLT 350 has been designed to operate on almost all airborne carriers and meet the needs of modern law enforcement agencies.
Equipped as standard with state-of-the-art 3-5 micron thermal imagers and high performance colour zoom camera the EASA certified COBOLT 350 delivers uncompromised image quality irrespective of daylight conditions. A range of additional sensors including laser range finder, laser illuminator and I2 camera are also available as options. The COBOLT 350 has been designed around a highly reliable 6-axis stabilisation platform (4 active and 2 passive) that provides the highest stablisation accuracy of any electro-optical gimbal in its class. The COBOLT 350 is operated through a highly ergonomic handheld controller which enables all system signals and parameters to be accessed and monitored in real-time over a TCP-IP connection. System status and events are logged to a solid-state disk.
