BIOLASE Granted Canadian Approval to Sell Waterlase iPlus(TM) All-Tissue Dental Laser Systems

Date Announced: 29 Aug 2011

Company gains access to 19,000 dentists.

IRVINE, CA--(Marketwire -08/29/11)- BIOLASE Technology, Inc. (NASDAQ: BLTI - News), the world's leading dental laser manufacturer and distributor, today announced that it has received approval from the Health Canada-Medical Device Bureau to sell its Waterlase iPlus™ all-tissue dental laser systems throughout Canada. Canada has an estimated 19,000 licensed dentists. BIOLASE sells its products in Canada through a direct sales force and selected distributors.

The Waterlase iPlus, with its Intuitive Power Control, not only addresses the key functional needs for the next generation of laser dentists, but it also delivers double the power and cutting speed with unparalleled control and versatility for all laser dentist users, from the beginner to the expert.

Performing most types of procedures with the new Waterlase iPlus provides minimal to no pain or discomfort, minimizes the need for local anesthetic in most restorative cases, eliminates the risk of bacterial and viral cross-contamination associated with conventional drills and burs, and results in preserving the tissue biologically intact, and without causing the damaging micro-fractures of the tooth structure and avoiding the necrosis caused by heat and abrasion.

Chairman and CEO Federico Pignatelli commented, "Canada, 19,000 dentists strong, historically represented one of the most robust markets for BIOLASE and its products. Our brand is highly recognized for its innovation, and our installed base is large, loyal and committed. Today's approval to sell our new flagship product, the Waterlase iPlus, is an important milestone in spreading the reach of our cutting edge technology in a greater multitude of markets. The Canadian dental community is recognized as one of the world's most high tech prone and highly receptive to laser technology. As the dominant player in the field, we expect Canada to be a strong contributor to our growth and enduring success."
