Konica Minolta Sensing Americas Exhibit SpectraRad™ & Soma Solar Products at SPIE Optics and Photonics 2011 Show

Date Announced: 23 Aug 2011

New line of spectrometers and PV tools on show in San Diego.

RAMSEY, N.J., Aug. 23, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Konica Minolta Sensing Americas, Inc. (KMSA), the worldwide leader in the industrial measurement of color, light and shape, will be debuting a new line of spectrometers to the US market at as well as photovoltaic measurement and characterization instruments at SPIE Optics and Photonics 2011 show being held at the San Diego Convention Center in San Diego, California August 23rd - 25th, 2011.

At the center of the measurement solutions presented at the show, KMSA will be showcasing its SpectraRad™ line of spectrometers which were co developed with B&W Tek, Inc.

The SpectraRad™ is a miniature TE Cooled Spectral Irradiance Meter designed for industrial and laboratory light measurement applications with a USB 2.0 interface. It is equipped with a right angle, fiber-optically coupled cosine corrector and is irradiance calibrated against a NIST traceable tungsten light source. BWSpec™ software, included, provides for the characterization and measurement of many lighting devices and systems. The standard software features include time line recording, data smoothing, illuminance (lux), chromaticity, color temperature, externally triggered pulsed light capturing, and other data-handling functions. The SpectraRad™ is ideal for lamp and LED characterization, color analysis, photostability testing, photobiology and photochemistry.

Also being shown at this years show will be the Soma Sun Spectroradiometer. The unit accurately measures the spectral irradiance of a solar simulator and determines its classification per ASTM and JIS standards. It is a key component in the R&D lab for the development of new types of solar cell technologies. Konica Minolta also offers a full line of other photovoltaic measurement solutions such as its AK Series solar reference cells and solar simulators.

"Konica Minolta wants to diversify their product line by offering B&W Tek spectrometers and solar products to open up new applications and industries outside of color and visible light measurement," says Ryan Griffin, Sales Engineer at Konica Minolta Sensing Americas.

Product demonstrations will be held during the SPIE Optics and Photonics conference at Konica Minolta Sensing's booth #731.
