Specialised Imaging Ltd. Wins Prestigious Queen's Award for Enterprise

UK-based high-speed imaging firm recognized for international trading success.

Specialised Imaging Ltd. have today been named as a winner of The Queen's Awards for Enterprise:Innovation 2011 - the UK's most prestigious accolade for business success.

The company was given the award for its innovation in the continuous development of a range of ultra-high-speed imaging systems used in military and scientific applications and its sustained growth in exports sales for these products over recent years.

Specialised Imaging ultra-high-speed imaging systems record, and measure parameters associated with high-speed events. The range includes a camera, which captures 32 high-resolution frames at a billion frames per second, used in materials, medical and biological research, and another camera, which takes 11 million pixel images at an exposure time of 10 nanoseconds, used in ballistic impact analysis. Specialised Imaging also produce a video projectile tracking system, specially designed for applications in sports science and munitions testing. Through innovation, the small company has grown its commercial activity.

The Queen's Awards for Enterprise is an awards programme for British businesses and other organizations who excel at international trade, innovation or sustainable development. They are the highest official UK awards for British businesses. Awards are made on the advice of the UK Prime Minister after examination of applications by an Advisory Committee composed of leading individuals from industry, commerce, trade unions and government.
