Qioptiq divests its polymer molding activity

Date Announced: 11 Apr 2011

Decision reflects focus on core optics & photonics activities.

LUXEMBOURG, April 11, 2011 - Qioptiq today announced that it had finalized the divestiture of the molding portion of Qioptiq Polymer, Inc., located in La Verne, California. This was done in order to concentrate on its core optical and photonics business.

In addition, Qioptiq announced that it has carried out the transfer of its diamond turning machines from its La Verne site to its Rochester, NY facility in order to better serve its US defense customers.

The assets of Qioptiq Polymer’s injection molding business were sold to Diverse Optics, Inc. which is owned by the prior management team of Qioptiq Polymer. Diverse Optics will remain in the existing facility in La Verne, California. Work for molding customers will continue to proceed in an uninterrupted fashion.

Erik Fleming, President of Diverse Optics, stated: “We welcome the completion of our purchase of this excellent business and look forward to serving our existing customers and new customers for all their polymer optics requirements.”

David Marks, Qioptiq’s CEO, added: “We wish Erik and his team success as they embark on this new adventure. At the same time we are enhancing the ability of our Rochester facility to meet the requirements of our US defense customers.”
