PicoQuant to present new pulsed lasers at LASER World of PHOTONICS

Date Announced: 28 Mar 2011

Along with several new product developments the company will show two new picosecond pulsed diode lasers at 596 nm and 510 nm

Berlin (Germany), 28 March 2011 – PicoQuant GmbH, specialist in the field of Single Photon Counting Applications, will present several new product developments at LASER World of PHOTONICS from May 23 to 26, 2011 in Munich, Germany. At booth 311, hall B1 the company will showcase two new picosecond pulsed diode lasers at 596 nm and 510 nm and introduce a new multiparameter seed laser, along with further new products.

The new green diode laser head with a wavelength around 510 nm is a true highlight of PicoQuants laser developments. For the first time green laser light is not based on frequency conversion but directly emitted by the laser diode. The laser can work at any repetition rate up to 40 MHz and generate pulses as short as 130 ps (FWHM). The second new laser head on display is the first picosecond pulsed diode laser with a wavelength of 596 nm and a variable repetition rate between 10 kHz and 40 MHz. This unique laser generates pulses with pulse widths below 120 ps (FWHM). The short pulse width and high repetition rates of these two new laser heads make them especially suited for time-resolved measurements in the life sciences enabling, for example, fast and precise fluorescence lifetime measurements.

With the new multiparameter infrared seed laser, PicoQuant will introduce a laser that is targeted especially at seeding of fiber amplifiers for material processing. The speciality of this laser is the generation of variable nanosecond pulse shapes that enable a modulation of seed power. The optical output power is fully voltage controlled which allows a much better extinction ratio and a lower price than classical electro-optically modulated sources.

Also on display will be the new single photon counting module Tau-SPAD, a detector for timing applications that was launched in September 2010, and the new fully automated fluorescence lifetime spectrometer FluoTime 300. Along with the new product developments, PicoQuant will showcase further electro-optical instrumentation from the complete product portfolio including time-resolved confocal microscopes and electronics for time-correlated single photon counting.
