iCore´s iPulse controller family enables highly efficient control of lighting in industrial applications with extremely precise current pulses of less than 1 μs and currents of up to 200 A. These features allow the realization of powerful machine vision systems for applications with very high speeds.
Currently, the iPulse family of lighting controllers from iCore includes 20 models with one, two, four, or eight channels, providing continuous currents ranging from 0.2 to 20 amperes, and flash currents ranging from 2 to 200 amperes. In terms of output power, the controllers cover a range of 60 to 500 watts per channel depending on the model, and total power ranges from 60 to 1000 watts. Due to these versatile technical characteristics, it is possible to select the most suitable model for each specific task.
The high precision of the iPulse controllers, distributed in Europe by Rauscher GmbH Bildverarbeitung, forms the basis for multi-strobe machine vision systems with sequencing functions. With this technology, very fast switching between multiple lighting scenarios can be achieved, where connected lights are operated, for example, with varying intensities or lighting angles. Depending on the setup, it is also possible to vary wavelengths, enabling multi-spectral systems to set different focus points regarding spectral distribution.
Compared to conventional lighting controllers, iPulse controllers offer two key advantages: Firstly, the response time for triggering the controlled lighting is significantly reduced due to the extremely fast current pulses. Secondly, the achievable short pulse duration with high currents ensures that the lighting is active only for the required period and can deliver its full power, up to ten times the rated current of the LED. This enables faster flash rates, which are essential for multi-strobe technology.
Multi-strobe imaging can be used flexibly in combination with area and line scan cameras and is particularly suitable for vision systems designed for dynamic scene capture, high-speed imaging, strobe applications with reduced motion blur, or for capturing multiple viewpoints to obtain depth information in 3D. With the multi-strobe technology based on iPulse controllers, cost-effective custom sequence recordings can be achieved and adjusted in real-time. The experts at Rauscher offer users competent support in selecting all machine vision components, including the appropriate controller.
