Printing Inks Developed by Alfa Chemistry Are Perfect for Organic and Printed Electronics

Date Announced: 04 Nov 2023

On the basis of conventional printing techniques, organic and printed electronics bring about fantastic opportunities to create novel products and electronic systems. As a partner in the semiconductor manufacturing industry, Alfa Chemistry recently released its new product offering of printing inks, encompassing conductive ink, dielectric ink, and semiconductor ink for research use.

Printing inks are complex mixtures of chemical compounds like coloring substances, binders, solvents, and excipients. The composition varies to different printing processes, solvent bases, drying mechanisms, and factors alike. Printing inks are usually categorized as liquid and paste inks.

“Being extremely versatile, printing inks can be used on virtually any surface,” says the Marketing Chief of Alfa Chemistry. “As the printing market is changing all the time, modern printing inks and processing methods are being developed continually. In the near future, UV-curable inks and other radiation methods are expected to gain more emphasis.”

Different inks are used for various printing occasions. Alfa Chemistry provides the following three types of printing inks:

Conductive Ink

Conductive ink can make the printed object conduct electricity and therefore is an indispensable part of all printed electronic equipment. The most common conductive inks are metal nanoparticle and particulate inks, such as silver-based glues and colloids, carbon nanomaterial-based conductive ink, and conductive polymer-based.

Dielectric Ink

Usually composed of organic polymers or ceramics in the solvent, dielectric inks are able to protect and enhance the operation of conductive materials, improve energy storage devices, and enable electronic devices to operate at bias voltages.

Semiconductor Ink

As the core component of printed electronic equipment, semiconductor ink determines the performance of the final equipment to a large extent.

To name just a few here: hexagonal boron nitride ink (CAS 10043-11-5), silver nanoparticle ink, carbon nanotube, single-walled, solvent-based conductive ink, SWCNT, platinum paste (screen printable), graphene dispersion, molybdenum disulfide ink for inkjet printing, graphene ink (CAS 7782-42-5), silver nanoparticles ink for spray printing, copper inkjet ink, carbon/graphite screen printing paste, silver ink, and more.
