ICFO spinoff LuxQuanta wins investment from Corning, GTD

Date Announced: 11 Aug 2021

LuxQuanta developing quantum-safe security solutions for optical communications; investment round to fuel ICFO’s 10th spin-off, advancing LuxQuanta’s strategic growth plan.

Barcelona, Spain -- LuxQuanta Technologies S. L., a technology spin-off launched in May 2021 from ICFO’s KTT Launchpad, receives investment from industry leaders, including Corning and GTD. The investment represents an important step forward in establishing LuxQuanta as a unique provider of quantum-safe security solutions for current communication infrastructures.

LuxQuanta’s technology and IP originated in the ICFO research group led by ICREA Prof Valerio Pruneri. The investment from Corning and GTD will enable LuxQuanta to bring technology from the lab to commercialization, enabling the deployment of quantum key distribution technology for securing digital data in the near future.

“This investment is an important first step for LuxQuanta to become a leading provider of quantum-safe solutions. GTD and Corning are companies whose technology is complementary to LuxQuanta products. We are very excited to work with them to leverage synergies and build strong collaboration,” commented LuxQuanta’s CTO Sebastian Etcheverry.
