Luxinar to exhibit at Laser Taiwan 2019

Date Announced: 20 Sep 2019

Luxinar, a global leader in manufacturing sealed CO2 laser sources, will be exhibiting its OEM 45iX and a selection of its SR series sealed CO2 laser sources, including its new SR 25i with AOM, from its expanding portfolio, on stand M735 at Laser Taiwan in Taipei, between 16-18 October 2019.

Partnering with Luxinar

Luxinar sealed CO2 laser sources can be used on a wide array of materials including textiles, plastic, polymer, acrylic, rubber, FR4, glass, wood, ceramics or metal to mention a few. Applications range from cutting, drilling, kiss-cutting and perforating to marking, engraving, scribing and welding. Its lasers are installed across many industries including electronics, automotive, industrial, textile, packaging, food and beverage to name only a few.

Luxinar does not provide turnkey solutions, preferring instead to work with OEMs and machine builders who integrate Luxinar sealed CO2 laser sources to provide a complete laser solution to their customers. All product ranges are available in three wavelengths; 10.6µm, 10.25µm and 9.3µm, allowing companies to design modular machines to meet their respective process parameters. That said, alternative wavelengths can be selected to match the peak absorption in some polymers and organic materials, thus optimising the laser process.

Ideal for electronics industry – meeting demands for consistent high precision

Lasers are now commonplace in the manufacture of electronics. The semiconductor industry continues to reduce the size of its dies and packaged devices, which is made possible because lasers process with high precision on a minimal heat-affected zone (HAZ). Although there are several laser options, CO2 lasers are often preferred due to the power/cost ratio and longer wavelengths, compared to other industrial laser types.

Luxinar’s SR series is targeted for customers who demand high quality, reliability and versatility from their laser. Applications include, but are not limited to, mobile phone covers, LCD glass processing, and microelectronics. Attention is paid to every detail of the engineering process to guarantee minimal operating costs. Throughput, economy, flexibility and reliability are the main features associated with this series.

The IP66-rated hard sealed CO2 laser source is built for longevity and trouble-free operation. Being hermetically sealed, these lasers are ideal for harsh environments, protected against dust, humidity and water spray. Its compact, lightweight design consists of an integrated and field replaceable RF power supply with enhanced diagnostics, a sealed beam delivery, and the option of a DC power supply. It also has a feedback control option for power stability control, bringing feedback for all ranges within ±2%.

Legendary for machine tools – flexible and repeatedly consistent

CO2 laser-based machine tools are well-established across many industries and have become the tool of choice for both high- and low-tech applications. Laser processing provides flexibility, with extremely accurate control of cut depth, high repeatability and consistency without the need to change tools, unlike the mechanical alternatives.

A best seller for Luxinar is the extremely versatile OEM 45iX laser source. It can be easily integrated into existing production lines, whether these are system concepts with scanners or other beam guidance components.

The laser comes with an integrated laser head, RF power supply and MCU interface, and the option of a DC power supply and cover. This, together with its comprehensive electronics interface and diagnostics, makes it an ideal candidate for robotic applications.

As with all products from Luxinar, the OEM 45iX has a high quality, round symmetrical beam for high processing speeds and a short optical pulse with high peak power. This improves the edge quality and minimises the heat affected zone. The technology is based on the well-proven slab principle, with no need for gas recirculation equipment such as vacuum pumps or pressure control systems. Maintenance and service costs are minimal resulting in this laser having a long lifetime and trouble-free operation.

Try before you buy

For manufacturers uncertain as to whether a sealed CO2 laser can be used in, or to improve, a specific manufacturing process, Luxinar is able to assist by conducting sample tests at their in-house application laboratories. This service is available to any interested party, regardless of whether the client is an existing customer. The laboratories are well equipped to conduct a range of processes. Whatever the process, Luxinar can assist to determine the best laser for an application. Sample turnaround times are rapid, and include detailed application reports with complimentary advice from experienced application engineers.

At your service – support when you need it

Whether you have a query, require a repair, need to exchange or purchase spare parts, or require training, Luxinar’s dedicated service team is on hand. The team are specialists in sealed CO2 laser sources. Each member has an in-depth knowledge of laser technology, the Luxinar product portfolio, as well as a wealth of experience across a multitude of industries. What they don’t know about CO2 laser sources is probably not worth knowing! With local contacts in Asia, Europe and USA, delays due to time zones are averted.
