Date Announced: 06 Aug 2019
Rochester firm will attend next week's SPIE Optics + Photonics event in San Diego.
August 6, 2019, Rochester, NY - AccuCoat inc, is celebrating thin film coating in optics manufacturing for the past 20 years this August. What began in 1999 has developed into a world-class optical coating facility with a growing headcount. With two facility expansions under its belt so far, AccuCoat has risen to the occasion serving the medical, defense, commercial, consumer, and research markets over its lengthy history.
Capable of prototype to high-volume coatings on glass, metal and polymer optical components, the customers benefit from the group’s vast experience with the design and application of precision thin film coatings. Accucoat’s coatings include multilayer Anti Reflective (AR), Beam Splitter, Metal Reflector, IR and wavelength specific coatings for UV, Visible and Infrared light regions. Applications include Missile Guidance, Medical Analyzers, 3D Projection, Vision Assistance, LiDAR/Autonomous Vehicle Systems, Virtual and Augmented Reality Goggles (AR/VR), to name a few.
"After starting three coating operations from the ground up, we set out to serve the smaller companies in the industry and the prototyping work within. Just because a group does not have a million-dollar order, does not make it less important to us. Since there are fewer management layers at AccuCoat, it has allowed me to work directly with the customer to have discussions on both the business and technical aspects of each of their projects and specific needs,” said Paul Meier Wang, President and Co-founder.
Customers have come to appreciate direct access to the company owners for fast answers and a professional approach to every project. That attention to detail shows in the final product quality.
Patrick Iulianello, Vice President and Co-founder, added, “When we coat optics, our philosophy is that these are the customer’s products, and they should be handled that way. Whether expensive or low-cost, each customer’s product should be handled with equal respect. We treat all customers, large or small, with the same concern, whether it’s a single part in the run or a large volume OEM. I think that’s why they tell us they see much higher yield from us than other vendors.”
In 2018, the team was cited for their workforce development efforts as finalists in the RBJ Technology & Manufacturing Awards. AccuCoat is known in the optics community for its continued support of the East High School Precision Coating Program, assisting with equipment sourcing, training, field trips and opportunities for student employment. In addition, they continue to support Monroe Community College and its ever-growing Optical Technician Training program with onsite visits, equipment and student development and job opportunities.
The AccuCoat team will be available to talk about your next coating project during SPIE Optics + Photonics in San Diego and during Optifab in Rochester this October, when the world-leaders in optical fabrication come together. Please stop by and help celebrate this achievement.
