BELLINGHAM, Washington, USA - Voting in the 2018 election for Officers and Directors for SPIE, the international society for optics and photonics, will open Monday 9 July and close 8 August. Qualified Society Members receive instructions via email on how to vote electronically. Results will be announced during the Annual General Meeting of the society on 28 August during SPIE Optics + Photonics in San Diego, California.
The 2018 slate includes:
Vice President – to serve as 2019 Vice President, 2020 President-Elect, and 2021 President:

The SPIE Nominating Committee accepts recommendations on an ongoing basis for the election slate. Directors, who serve a three-year term, are expected to attend and participate in three board meetings each year. To make a recommendation or for more information, e-mail email@example.com, and include a paragraph stating why the person is qualified to serve.
A candidate for SPIE Officer or Director must be a member in good standing of SPIE and typically will have significant leadership experience with the Society (i.e., committee membership, chairing of conferences or committees, involvement in SPIE student activities, or a combination of these activities) or internationally recognized background in a technology area of significant interest to SPIE.
SPIE is the international society for optics and photonics, an educational not-for-profit organization founded in 1955 to advance light-based science, engineering, and technology. The Society serves nearly 264,000 constituents from approximately 166 countries, offering conferences and their published proceedings, continuing education, books, journals, and the SPIE Digital Library.
