Radiant Hosts Live Seminar on New Measurement Methods for Display and AR/VR Devices

Date Announced: 26 Apr 2018

REDMOND, Wash. – April 26, 2018 — Radiant Vision Systems, a leading provider of visual test and inspection solutions for illuminated displays, announces that it will host a live seminar titled “New Methods for Display and AR/VR Testing” at the Hyatt House San Jose hotel in Silicon Valley. The seminar will cover basic principles of light and color measurement, applications of photometric imaging systems for display testing, and offer a live demonstration of near-eye display (NED) measurement through a virtual reality (VR) headset using Radiant’s new AR/VR lens imaging solution and software. The seminar will take place on May 10, 2018, from 10:00 AM to 1:30 PM PDT in San Jose, California, USA.

Displays now provide most of the operational interfaces for devices in electronics, automotive, aerospace, and other industries. With a surge of new display technologies (like high-resolution OLED, microLED, and facial/gesture recognition) and integrations (such as head-up displays and near-eye augmented and virtual reality (AR/VR) devices), manufacturers of displays face a wealth of new challenges for quality control in design and production. Despite vast technical differences, consumers expect the same flawless experience from their display products. Evaluating emerging technology demands new optical systems that can visualize displays exactly as customers experience them, with capabilities developed to test all unique display types and integrations. Radiant’s live seminar offers a fundamental introduction to photometric principles for light and color measurement and presents imaging solutions that can accurately simulate human visual perception of light to ensure the truest evaluation of product design and function. These solutions also answer the need for quality control on the production line, where they are used in fully-automated integrations to optimize operations throughout manufacturing.

Attendees of the Radiant seminar will learn:

  • Fundamentals of light and color measurement
  • Benefits of image-based photometric measurement systems for:
    • Matching the human eye’s response to light and color
    • Imaging entire displays for contextual uniformity and defect analysis
    • Efficient R&D and production-level evaluation
  • New optical devices for electronic display measurement
  • Applications and considerations for image-based evaluation of OLEDs, anti-glare displays, AR/VR, view angle, and emitters that enable gesture/facial recognition

Demonstrations of photometric measurement will be provided throughout the seminar using Radiant ProMetric® Imaging Colorimeters and PhotometersTrueTest™ Software, and the company’s latest optical devices. Attendees will have the opportunity to discuss applications with the Radiant team following each presentation. The seminar is free to attend, with complimentary lunch and refreshments provided.
