Syntec Optics to Continue Growth by Acquisition

Date Announced: 10 Aug 2017

Well-positioned to acquire optics fabrication technologies after creating 100 new jobs in one year through consolidated operations in Rochester NY.

ROCHESTER, N.Y.Aug. 8, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Syntec Optics, privately owned advanced manufacturing company that pioneered biocompatible, light-weight, and low-cost precision optics made from highly engineered polymers, announced today that it will accelerate future growth by acquiring additional optics technologies. Syntec Optics has successfully consolidated its three different operations. It has created over 100 new jobs in one year since it started its relocation and consolidation to the City of Rochester from various upstate New York locations. Syntec Optics is finding increasing demand for its optics fabrication techniques for transformational products coming in the next 5-10 years.

Al Kapoor, who acquired a small manufacturing company in 1999 and renamed it Syntec Optics to seed the pioneering in low cost precision optics, said, "Syntec Optics has always kept an eye on the future. This is the proven recipe to create new jobs. Over the past two decades, Syntec enabled the smallest fingerprint device and then the first optics-based diagnostics for detection of disease. Now it is positioned to enable the first light-weight and low-cost precision optics for medical scopes, augmented reality, driverless cars, smart sensors, and much more."

Syntec Optics has been the enabler of many products where light is used to image, sense or detect. It has developed techniques over the past two decades to make components and sub-assemble optics used in the final transformational products. In this long journey, Syntec Optics is making American manufacturing globally competitive again.

Syntec Optics is North America's largest polymer optics assembly and opto-mechanical component provider. It has successfully consolidated optical coatingoptics toolingoptics prototypingoptics moldingoptics mechanicals, and optics assembly operations in Rochester NY.

"We are amazed how Syntec Optics and its affiliates went through the consolidation over the past year. Typically, when advance manufacturing companies tell us they are moving operations from multiple locations, we expect a slip in performance. Syntec Optics had been extra-ordinary in its ability to both move and grow at the same time," said Ted Smith, leading lender at M&T bank.
