In 2016, United Lens Company (ULC) is celebrated its 100th year of family ownership and continues to be a leading optics manufacturer in American production and pioneering technology.
Founded in 1916 by Fileno DiGregorio as a modest single-furnace operation, ULC has grown to become the only truly vertically integrated company in the optical industry, offering the latest technologies and highest quality optical components per MIL-PRF-13830B, MIL-I-45208 & ISO-10110 and OEM customers’ drawing specifications.
Four generations of DiGregorios continue to share Fileno’s commitment to customer service, impeccable quality and fast turnaround which is recognized industry wide. From supporting the U.S. government through World War II to the expanded Optical Fabrication Division established in the 1970s, to the high-tech coating operation of the past four decades, ULC prides itself on past endeavors while continuing to look to the future.
United Lens Company’s beginnings were modest, molding spectacle lens blanks, but always with a keen eye to the future and developing technologies. The result is a present day store that is far more sophisticated. A dedicated Optical Shop, Coating Division, Service Center, and Molding Division employ precision engineering and highly skilled artisans to create optical glass products, ranging from single piece projects to runs of hundreds of thousands. An extensive inventory of hundreds of types of optical glass, and tireless, state-of-the-art in-house quality testing ensure consistent, superior results with rapid delivery.
The one-time spectacle blank specialist now serves today’s laser Aerospace, Astronomical, Fiber Optic, Biomedical, Military, and Industrial Sectors, among others.
