MTI Welcomes Boris Kobrin as Chief Technology Officer

Date Announced: 07 Jun 2016

Kobrin founded Rolith, just acquired by the Canadian metamaterials firm.

Metamaterial Technologies Inc. (MTI) is pleased announce that Dr. Boris Kobrin will be joining MTI as the new Chief Technology Officer.

Kobrin brings more than 25 years of experience with MEMS, semiconductors, and micro-optic technologies.  Prior to joining MTI, he was the founder and CEO of Rolith Inc., where he pioneered novel low-cost throughput lithography technology called RMLâ (Rolling Mask Lithography), that is scalable to large surface areas; and NanoWebâ, an invisible metal mesh conductor. Rolith’s business was recently acquired by MTI.

“We are very excited to have Boris join our executive team at MTI, Boris brings a wealth of experience and knowledge in nanofabrication and will play a key role in accelerating the commercialization of our products,” said George Palikaras, founder and CEO of MTI.

Dr. Kobrin was one of the founding members of Applied Microstructures, where he developed an advanced technology for deposition of nanocoatings for MEMS. He also worked for Electron Corp in Russia, Holo Or Inc. in Israel, Bragg Photonics in Canada, Plasma-Therm in Florida and Onix Microsystems in California.

“I am looking forward to working with a visionary CEO and a company like MTI whose metamaterial optical technology can have a transformational impact in the technology world” said Boris Kobrin, Chief Technology Officer of MTI.

Dr. Kobrin has authored more than 50 papers and presentations, and has 30 issued patents. He received his Ph.D. in Solid State Physics from Academy of Sciences, in Moscow, Russia.
