NeoPhotonics Appoints Industry Veteran to its Board of Directors

Ihab Tarazi replaces Allan Kwan at the US-based optoelectronic module firm.

SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--NeoPhotonics Corporation (NYSE: NPTN), a leading designer and manufacturer of advanced hybrid photonic integrated optoelectronic modules and subsystems for bandwidth-intensive, high-speed communications networks, today announced that Mr. Ihab Tarazi has been appointed to its Board of Directors, effective October 27, 2015. Mr. Tarazi will replace Allan Kwan, who is stepping down after serving on the Board since 2008.

Mr. Tarazi serves as Chief Technology Officer at Equinix, Inc. where he is responsible for Equinix International Business Exchange™ (IBX®) network operations, datacenter platform strategy, leading the next generation technology and innovation function and contributing to the company's cloud initiatives. Mr. Tarazi brings 25 years of experience in the telecommunication business.

Before joining Equinix, Mr. Tarazi served as Verizon's Vice President of Enterprise Network Services where he helped drive product strategy, life cycle management, technology and development for its network products including IP, Ethernet and transport to support retail and wholesale customers. He also was the chairman of the Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF).

Mr. Tarazi received his Master of Engineering in Telecommunications Management from Southern Methodist University and a Bachelor of Engineering in Telecommunications Engineering from the University of Maryland.
