Date Announced: 21 Jul 2015
Patent covers optoelectronic assemblies for high speed signal transmission.
BERLIN, Germany, July 21, 2015 - VI Systems GmbH announces today that the allowed patent, entitled “Opto-electronic assembly for high speed transmission” which is filed under application number US 13/846,392 is essential to protect VIS’ proprietary concept of ultrahigh-speed vertical cavity surface emitting laser (VCSEL).
The invention pertains to optoelectronic assemblies which can be used in parallel optic transmitters and receivers. The invention contains an optimized micro-assembly which represents a unique combination of high frequency performance and chip scale micro-optics as optical engine for parallel transceivers or active optical cables.
For short reach communication it is expected that parallel optics will continue to play a significant role either as standardized products such as Ethernet IEEE 802.3bm for 100Gbit/s and IEEE P802.3bs for 400Gbit/s Ethernet or Fibre Channel 128GFC for 128 Gbit/s as well as embedded optics in data communication systems.
VI Systems’ offers testboards for 100 Gbit/s and 400 Gbit/s parallel optics data links which are based on 25 Gbit/s single channel data rate. VCSEL at 850nm wavelength are available as bare die chips or as fiber coupled test modules. Single channel fiber optic transmitter and receiver modules are available for data rates of up to 50 Gbit/s.
