JENOPTIK’s Optical Systems Division with novelties at Compamed Duesseldorf

Date Announced: 26 Oct 2010

As supplier of single and system components for Health Care & Life Science, Jenoptik presents, among others, optoelectronic readers, wide-angle lenses for endomedical applications, as well as LED Chips with specific wavelengths for medical applications.

The Business Unit Optoelectronic Systems of the Jenoptik’s Optical Systems Division is the specialist for optical and optoelectronic single and system components (modules) for the key market Health Care & Life Science. Jenoptik develops and produces high precision products and solutions for various applications, especially in areas such as diagnostics & therapy, endomedicine, biotechnology and ophthalmology. Special know how exists in series production of particular high quality. Using assembly and packaging technologies optics are integrated into modules which can be produced in high volume.

Diagnostics: Experience from more than 100 million detection modules

In the field of diagnostics Jenoptik draws upon great experience in development and production of more than 100 million detection modules and components, which operate extremely narrowband at wavelengths specifically required in the range between UV 350 nm and NIR 1750 nm. The optimum balance of energy input into the sample on the one hand and signal detection on the other hand is achieved by using optical components, such as lenses and filters, especially adapted to the needs of rapid diagnostics.
Jenoptik offers, as one of only a few manufacturers in the world, the entire value chain - from the chip to the reader housing – consolidated within one company. The reduction of interfaces avoids common sources of error and leads to gain of quality and time.

Jenoptik combines the core competencies

- Chip development
- Optics development and production by precision injection molding
- Assembly and packaging technologies

and thus covers the complete value chain from sample detection to signal output.

Already today optoelectronic arrays can be configured for excitation and detection in multi-parameter analytics which are increasingly powerful, smaller and highly cost-efficient.
Consequently, Jenoptik’s scope of service meets even the highest requirements of the industry in rapid diagnostics and personalized medicine.
