Puchheim, Germany, Feb. 5, 2015 – SCANLAB AG, the leading OEM supplier of systems for deflecting and positioning lasers, is introducing a new scan head at the Photonics West tradeshow in San Francisco, USA. The new high-performance intelliSCAN III 20 impresses with exceptional long-term stability – and incredibly low drift. This makes the 20-mm aperture scan head ideally suited for such large-image-field applications as 3D printing and laser cutting.
SCANLAB is debuting the intelliSCAN III 20 scan system at Photonics West in San Francisco, USA. With a 20-mm aperture, this new system delivers all advantages of the intelliSCAN product family: a wide range of options and efficient digital-servo algorithms, as well as application-specific and customer-specific tunings. The scan head's electronics provide comprehensive diagnostic and communication functionality. And the intelliSCAN III 20's high-performance dynAXIS 3 galvanometer scanners ensure drastically reduced long-term drift and temperature drift.
A particularly illustrative application is high-precision 3D printing of moulds, where the laser must repeatedly rescan even the tiniest of structures, sometimes hours at a time. And a low-drift scan system is likewise crucial for laser cutting with large image fields and high power densities, as well as in industrial applications requiring multiple shifts and 24/7 operation.
