LUXeXceL’s 3D Printing Process for optics wins the GLOBAL FESPA Digital 2014 Gold Award

Date Announced: 22 May 2014

Independent printing experts recognize the added value for 3D printed optics.

MUNICH/GOES, May 22nd, 2014 – FESPA, the global federation of 37 national associations for the screen printing, digital printing and textile printing community announced at the FESPA Gala Celebration Night in Munich, that LUXeXceL, up against hundreds of entries, is the Global Winner of the FESPA Functional Printing Award 2014.

LUXeXceL’s process to 3D Print optical components such as lenses, micro optical surfaces and photonics, was appointed as winner by independent industry experts who in turn have contributed significant advances to the techniques and technology used in today’s industry.

According to the jury LUXeXceL’s Printoptical Technology has an enormous potential for both the 3D printing and the optics industry. The freedom and flexibility offered by the LUXeXceL platform for designing, manufacturing and prototyping, enables designers to develop new optical products and services.

Additional to this, the patented technique developed for production eliminates the need for post-processing. This makes the printing process easy to scale for volume manufacturing.

CEO Richard van de Vrie: “I am excited that the digital printing industry recognized LUXeXceL’s technology and the fact that we are changing the way optics are made. I am proud of the team that is working hard on the continuous improvement of our printing process on many fronts as well as material development. The fact that independent printing professionals selected LUXeXceL as the Global winner will hopefully contribute to our success.”

Currently LUXeXceL is investing in the construction of a product and process development and manufacturing site, dedicated to the manufacturing and fast delivery of customized non imaging plastic optical components. This will enable customers to upload a CAD file and receive get their order delivered globally in a few days. This new additive manufacturing site will be located in the Netherlands close to the LUXeXceL Headquarters.
