DILAS Selected as Finalist for Prism Awards

Date Announced: 05 Dec 2013

Mainz, Germany, December 3, 2013 – DILAS, the diode laser company is pleased to announce its Fiber-Coupled; Multi-Single Emitter Module has been nominated as a finalist for the 2014 Prism Awards for Photonics Innovation.

The laser source achieves high fiber-coupled output power in the 450nm spectral range. It delivers the highest fiber-coupled power and brightness in this spectral range. Its scalable approach allows for powers from 10W to 100W with 10W and 25W currently released as a product.

The product delivers blue laser light in the 450nm range with exceptional high power and brightness. It therefore can be used for displacing arc lamps in display applications like cinema or large venue projectors by lasers. In future laser projectors, it can act as a scalable source of blue light. Its brightness and power enable arc lamp replacement even in the highest currently available brightness projectors. In addition, the fiber-coupled output power also enables new medical applications like blue light therapy and photodynamic therapy (PDT). Sponsored by SPIE and Photonics Media, the Prism Awards for Photonics Innovation is an international competition that honors the best new photonic products on the market. Over the years, the Prism Awards has received applications from more than 35 countries across the globe. Applications are judged by a panel of leading industry experts, venture capitalists, luminaries and visionaries.

The awards ceremony is on Wednesday, February 5, 2014 in conjunction with SPIE Photonics West, San Francisco, CA.
