Date Announced: 30 Apr 2013
Jenoptik and Phoenix Contact cooperate on developing intelligent LED machine lights. This strategic collaboration between the two companies is based on a long-term development and supply agreement concluded in 2012.
The machine lights in the new PLD (Phoenix Lighting Devices) range were presented to the public for the first time at Phoenix Contact's booth at Hannover Messe in April 2013. The LED lights are the first of a new generation of LED lighting products. A PLD communication module can be used to completely integrate the lights into a machine’s control unit by the shortest possible route. The lights use innovative optics to provide efficient and glare-free lighting in the work area. They can be continuously dimmed or operated in stroboscope mode, and can be connected in series if necessary. The lights can be integrated with protection class IP67 into machines used in electronics production, printing technology, packaging, filling, and the processing of wood, metal, and plastics.
As a provider of integrated optoelectronic system solutions, Jenoptik is responsible for the development and production of the PLD machine lights under the cooperation agreement concluded in 2012. Jenoptik coordinates every step of the integration of the electronics, LED lighting, optics, hardware, and software – from development and design through to prototype production and series production – and is responsible for the entire supply chain management. Phoenix Contact distributes the products via its global sales network. The agreement will run for a period of five years. This strategic collaboration is expected to include the development and production of further products by Jenoptik in order to keep expanding the new PLD product range.
”In Jenoptik, we have found an expert project partner that is in an excellent position to help us expand our project portfolio and successfully break into the industrial LED lighting market. We have been particularly impressed by their extensive knowledge of LED lighting, optics, and electronics and also their many years’ experience in the development and production of client-specific products. We are confident that this new range of LED lights has the potential to become one of our leading products in 2013,’ were the words of Martin Müller, Head of the I/O and Networks business unit at Phoenix Contact Electronics in Bad Pyrmont.
“We are delighted that, in Phoenix Contact, we have managed to win another key customer in the field of LED lighting,” said Wolfgang Keller, Head of the Optoelectronic Systems business unit. “Our successful, strategic partnership with Phoenix Contact underlines our ambition to strengthen our position as one of the top system providers and OEM partners for industrial LED lighting solutions.”
