poLight hires new CEO from mobile and semiconductor industry

Date Announced: 13 Sep 2010

Advanced lens company moves into next phase of growth.

Horten (Norway), September 13, 2010 – poLight, the world leader in reflowable autofocus actuated lenses, today announced the appointment of Christian Dupont as Chief Executive Officer. poLight is entering an industrialisation and market deployment phase after several years of technology and product development.

poLight board of directors is therefore appointing a new Chief Executive Officer with a broad international wireless business experience and a proven track record in fast growing high tech companies. Hence, this will accelerate the process of introducing poLight’s low cost product in the market and place poLight in a strong position to serve customers and partners in the mobile phone industry.

Christian Dupont took his position as new poLight’s CEO on September 1st, 2010. Christian joins poLight from Varioptic, world leader in liquid lens technology, where he was CEO. Prior to this, he worked for 20 years at Texas Instruments, the wireless semiconductor leader, where he pioneered the Wireless business taking different Marketing and General management positions in Europe and USA.

Christian Dupont graduated from EPFL (Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne), in Switzerland, in 1987. “I am excited to join poLight, I believe poLight technology is very well positioned to address the emergence of reflowable autofocus camera modules in the cellular phone market. poLight is bringing close-up AF and fast video AF which are key features for new mobile phones. Additionally this technology is leveraging existing MEMS foundries for production which is key to serve cost effective mass volumes to this very demanding market," says Christian Dupont.
