Mobius Photonics Promotes Members of Leadership Team

New COO and CTO at US-based fiber laser company.

MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA--(Marketwire - Aug 23, 2012) - Mobius Photonics, an innovative producer of short pulsed fiber laser sources (IR, UV and visible wavelengths), has promoted Mark "Red" Byer to Chief Operating Officer (COO) and Manuel Leonardo to Chief Technology Officer (CTO).

Red Byer is a Mobius Photonics co-founder. Before his promotion to COO, Byer was Mobius' vice president of operations. His achievements at Mobius include leading the build-out of the company's headquarters and implementation of an enterprise resource planning (ERP) system, as well as building Mobius' IT foundation. Byer is one of the chief architects behind Mobius' laser technologies and lead developer of the graphical user interface featured in each Mobius laser system.

Prior, he held senior design engineer positions at Novawave Technologies and at Lightwave Electronics. Byer earned a B.S. in product design and a B.A. in psychology from Stanford University. He is the co-author of several technical articles and holds seven patents relating to high-power lasers.

Manuel Leonardo is a Mobius Photonics co-founder and was vice president of technology before his promotion to CTO. Leonardo is an expert in developing and building high-peak-power laser systems with highly efficient nonlinear conversion. He has over 10 years of experience in developing ultraviolet laser systems. Leonardo is one of the chief architects behind Mobius' laser technologies. He has been granted five patents and has co-authored several technical articles on innovative laser technologies. Prior to Mobius, he was an optical engineer for Lightwave Electronics. Leonardo earned a B.S. in physics from California State University, San Jose.
