'LASER-COMPACT' Group - 20 years anniversary

Date Announced: 26 Jul 2012

Year 2012 marks the twentieth anniversary of "LASER-COMPACT" Group's R&D, manufacturing and sales activities in the field of diode-pumped solid state lasers. In addition, one of the companies of the Group, Laser-export, celebrates its 10th year in the market.

The core of the first company of the group, scientific-production firm "Laser-compact", founded in 1992, originates from an experienced team of physicists. Having as their background an education from the leading universities, such as MIPT and MSU, and more than 10 years of R&D experience, these scientists were the ones whose work in the 1980s led to the start of serial production of the world’s first industrial model of a DPSS laser. The model was called LTI-101 and its serial manufacturing began as early as 1981.

The unique experience of Laser-compact's employees provided a successful start to the new company, enabled very fast route from development to serial manufacturing of a wide range of highly competitive DPSS lasers and let Laser-compact find its stable niche at the world laser market.

All these 20 years the leadership has been provided by Ivan Ivanovich Kuratev, PhD in Physics and Mathematics, who is an alumnus of MIPT's Physics and Quantum Electronics Department and the author of more than 100 scientific articles and inventions in the laser field.
Laser-compact Group became well-known in Russia and abroad and built customer preference not only among end users of laser products, but also among manufacturers of technological equipment.

The Group is the biggest Russian exporter of DPSS lasers: more than 42 thousand units have been delivered to 40 countries, mostly US, Germany, Canada, France and Japan.

In November 2009 quality control system of Laser-export, the main manufacturing company of the Group, was certified to comply with ISO 9001:2008 requirements.

The product range of the Group includes pulsed and CW lasers emitting in the ultraviolet, green and infrared region of the spectrum. Main applications are mass-spectrometry (MALDI TOF), laser micro-dissection, laser microscopy, Raman spectroscopy, interferometry, non-destructive investigations, LIDAR, and also positioning in medical and building equipment.

At the present moment Laser-compact is developing a new series of actively q-switched DPSS lasers which is intended to be used in industrial applications. Lasers of this series (brand name -"TECHNOLOGY") will meet OEM customers' requirements, such as superior pulse-to-pulse stability and the beam quality, compact footprint, high peak power and pulse energy. The parameters of the lasers of this series will allow them to be used in micro processing of different materials, including thin films, multilayered structures and semiconductors (for example, resistors trimming, LCD repair, scribing of photovoltaic and other electric thin films, etc.), marking (cables, printed circuit boards, surface or inside-glass marking, etc.) and biological tissues processing.

Serial production of "TECHNOLOGY" series is planned to commence in 2013.
