Navitar Announces Additions to Sales and Engineering Staff

Date Announced: 11 Jul 2012

Optics firm looks to grow in China and Japan.

Rochester, New York – July 11, 2012 – Navitar, Inc., a leading manufacturer of precision optics and imaging system components, is pleased to announce the addition of several employees to its sales and engineering departments. The growth in these departments is a testament to Navitar’s ongoing success and product diversification.

Porter Jia has been appointed Account Manager for China. Jia will be based in Guangzhou, China and joins Navitar with five years’ experience in machine vision sales to the industrial and research markets. Prior to coming to Navitar, Jia was employed as a sales engineer with Guangzhou Intelligent Eyes Electric Production Co. Ltd., where he worked closely with customers to develop business in industrial and pharmaceutical areas.

Also joining Navitar’s international sales team as a Japan-based Account Manager is Yoshihisa Senoo, who comes to Navitar after eleven years selling optics, illumination and complete imaging solutions for Moritex Japan. He will focus on maintaining and expanding customer accounts, in addition to promoting Navitar’s products more aggressively.

“We are excited to welcome Porter and Yoshihisa to our sales team. Both have extensive sales experience and their industry knowledge will help Navitar grow our business in China and Japan,” comments Donald Ehinger, Vice President of International Sales.

In addition to welcoming two new international salespeople, Navitar has hired a domestic sales support specialist and several engineers. Navitar has prided itself on hiring from the large pool of skilled local resources since its founding in 1972 by Rochester native David Goldstein. The company has reaped the benefits of the area’s numerous outstanding educational institutions. In the past year, Navitar has added two associate mechanical engineers and one associate optical engineer; all are recent Rochester Institute of Technology graduates.

A summer intern is a current University of Rochester optics student. “The caliber of graduates we are seeing come out of Rochester universities makes it rewarding to hire locally-based talent – both for the quality of employee and the benefit to the region’s economy,” comments Robert Podlena, Director of Engineering at Navitar.
