Alma Lasers, Inc. Partners With Henry Schein Medical To Offer Latest Breakthrough In Nail Fungus Treatment

Date Announced: 18 Jun 2012

'Harmony' Nd:YAG laser has recently gained FDA approval.

BUFFALO GROVE, Ill., June 18, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Alma Lasers, Inc. has announced an exclusive distribution arrangement with Henry Schein Medical to launch its latest innovation Harmony ClearChoice™ – a new, fast, effective approach to nail restoration. This exciting new laser platform, which has just gained clearance by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, allows for two distinct laser technologies to temporarily increase clear nail in patients diagnosed with nail fungus (onychomycosis). Harmony ClearChoice will be offered through the Foot and Ankle business of Henry Schein Medical.

For the 35 million people worldwide who suffer from onychomycosis, treatment has been a challenge because the infection is embedded within the nail and is difficult to reach. But Alma Lasers' innovative ClearChoice approach addresses onychomycosis from the inside out by targeting the fungus located deep beneath the nail bed for visible results.

The Q-switched module fires short bursts of higher energy and quickly heats a focused spot on the nail bed allowing for concentration in areas where the fungus lives. The 1064nm Nd:YAG module slowly heats the entire nail bed killing the yeast organisms responsible for the nail infection. Through this unique platform, physicians and aesthetic providers have added versatility in delivery options which can enhance the level of efficacy for their patients.

"At Alma Lasers, we're committed to delivering the most advanced, efficacious aesthetic and medical solutions that add to clinical outcomes, promote positive patient experience and maximize return on investment for our customers," said Avi Farbstein, General Manager of the North American Operation. "Our partnership with Henry Schein will allow this exciting, unique technology to be accessible to patients worldwide."

"We are very pleased that Alma Lasers has selected Henry Schein Medical as its exclusive U.S. distribution partner for The Harmony ClearChoice," said Jeff Klingler, Director of Sales and Marketing, Foot and Ankle, Henry Schein Medical.

"Our valued supplier partners rely on us to help increase visibility and appreciation for the benefits of their exciting new products and services; at the same time our customers rely on Henry Schein to provide the latest technology for helping to grow their practice and deliver high quality care. The use of laser technology for patient care is a growing trend in the podiatry market and we are excited to be able to offer this cutting edge technology to our customers."
