PicoQuant will introduce a new high-power green picosecond pulsed laser head with up to 200 mW at Photonics West 2012

Date Announced: 30 Nov 2011

Besides the green laser head, the German company will introduce two more new developments to the visitors.

Berlin (Germany), 30 November 2011 – PicoQuant GmbH will introduce three new products at SPIE Photonics West held January 21 to 26, 2012 in San Francisco, USA: a high-power green picosecond pulsed laser head that provides up to 200 mW average power, a laser system for the generation of nanosecond pulses with programmable pulse shape, and the fastest commercial quantum random number generator (QRNG) available to the market.

The new fiber amplified laser head “LDH-P-FA-530-XL“ generates 200 mW average output power at 80 MHz repetition rate at an emission wavelength of 531 nm. It operates at variable repetition rates between 1 MHz and 80 MHz and provides clean temporal pulse shapes with pulse widths <100 ps. The “LDH-P-FA-530-XL“ is an addition to PicoQuant's LDH-FA series of fiber amplified laser heads for applications in fluorescence spectroscopy and microscopy. The new laser head will soon also be available with an optional FHG module for ultraviolet light at 266 nm.

With the programmable pulse shape diode laser “PPL 400” PicoQuant presents a stand-alone, computer controlled laser system, which is ideally suited for applications in material processing or seeding of fiber amplifiers. The optical output of the “PPL 400“ is generated from four individual programmable waveform generators that output a combination of a flat top square pulse and a sawtooth with adjustable amplitude and slew rate. The outputs from all waveform generators are combined, and the sum signal is used to directly modulate the output of a laser diode. This generates fully adaptable pulse shapes with multiple peaks and plateaus and a much better extinction ratio than electrooptically modulated sources.

The third new development on display will be the “PQRNG 150”, a QRNG that is based on the randomness of photons. The “PQRNG 150” provides high bit rates, up to 150 Mbits/s, turn-key usability and long term statistical quality and is therefore an adequate instrument for Monte Carlo simulations, secure data encryption as well as lotteries and gaming.

PicoQuant's new products and further time-resolved electro-optical instrumentation from the company's product portfolio will be on display at the BiOS exhibition, part of the SPIE Photonics West, on January 21 to 22, 2012 at booth # 8723, and during the SPIE Photonics West exhibition on January 24 to 26 at booths # 4721 (north hall) and # 723 (south hall). The company will also present some of their latest scientific developments during the BiOS and LASE conferences with the following papers: Next-generation TCSPC detection (paper 8228-15), Superresolution imaging using fluctuations (paper 8228-31), New methods for FLIM and FCS (paper 8228-31), Yellow-orange picosecond pulses by sum-frequency mixing of fiber-amplified gain-switched laser diodes (paper 8240-2).
