Announcing VPIlinkConfigurator– Version 4.6

VPIlinkConfigurator Version 4.6 is an all-in-one link engineering solution to analyze the performance and optimize the planning of optical networks. The latest version delivers new tools that simplify high-bit-rate traffic configuration and streamline resource-demanding tasks, such as designing large-scale networks utilizing flexgrids, while significantly improving Quality of Transmission (QoT) assessment accounting for transmission-aware impairments in compliance with the MSA OpenROADM standard.

VPIlinkConfigurator Version 4.6 enhances optical network design and performance assessment with new modeling and Design Automation features including:

• Advanced QoT Assessment and Enhanced Receiver Estimation Model: The updated model estimates the required Optical Signal-to-Noise Ratio (OSNR) at the receiver side, accounting for transmission-aware impairments including accumulated PMD, PDL, and Received Optical Power (ROP).
• Expanded Equipment Library: A new list of transceivers based on OpenROADM specifications has been added to the exemplary equipment library, allowing users to model 100G–800G transmission lines and factor transmission-aware penalties into QoT assessments.
• Automated Optical Channel Configuration: The new Allocate Signal Rates tool assigns the required number of optical channels to a given cumulative traffic demand, minimizing total channel bandwidth while accounting for OSNR degradation.
• Granular Equipment Reporting: Along with the standard Bill of Materials (BOM), the software now generates a node-by-node report detailing equipment allocation per chassis.
• Extended Performance Metrics: An enhanced Reporting tool generates comprehensive performance reports for every network facility, covering critical metrics such as channel power, total power, OSNR, and accumulated CD, PMD, and PDL.
