Brian Soller named President of Jenoptik Optical Systems…

...and Daniela Mattheus re-elected as Chair of the firm's Supervisory Board.

Diversified laser and photonics company Jenoptik has announced Brian Soller as the new President of Jenoptik Optical Systems, LLC effective June 1, 2026. He will be responsible for operations, strategic development and sustainable growth of Jenoptik’s U.S. optics and photonics business.

The company describes Soller as having “more than 20 years of leadership experience in optics, photonics, instrumentation, semiconductors, and advanced materials,” adding, “He has successfully built and scaled high-technology businesses, while leading global teams, driving commercial growth and overseeing strategic operations.”

Soller holds a Ph.D. in Optical Science from the University of Rochester and a B.S. in Physics and Mathematics from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse.

“With the rapid growth of our key applications and markets like semiconductor & electronics and life science & medical technology, we are excited to have Brian Soller on board to help expand our optics and photonics business and customer portfolio especially in US,” said Dr. Ralf Kuschnereit, Member of the firm’s Executive Board.

Since February 2025, Vice President and General Manager of Jenoptik’s Huntsville, AL plant, Gregg Borek assumed the role of interim President of Jenoptik Optical Systems.

At its meeting on June 9th, held following the Annual General Meeting, Jenoptik’s Supervisory Board unanimously re-elected Daniela Mattheus as Chair of the Supervisory Board. The re-election was necessary as Mattheus had been elected on an interim basis in December 2025.

Mattheus is a professional supervisory board member and has been a member of Jenoptik’s Supervisory Board since the end of 2023. The company commented, “Being a lawyer and management consultant, she brings her extensive experience in her roles as member of supervisory boards and audit committee chairs at various, also listed companies, e.g. Commerzbank AG and CEWE Stiftung & Co. KGaA.”

Mattheus  herself commented, “I look forward to working with them and the Executive Board, under its new Chairman, to guide our technology group forward on its path of strategically focusing on photonics and profitable growth.”

Jenoptik is a global technology group operating in the photonics market. Core markets primarily include semiconductor technology, medical technology, metrology as well as smart mobility. Almost 4,500 people worldwide work for the Jenoptik Group, which is headquartered in Jena, Germany. The firm is listed on the German Stock Exchange in Frankfurt and traded on the MDax and TecDax. In fiscal year 2025, Jenoptik generated revenue of 1,046 million euros.
