| Apple's new 'X' phone, launched to great fanfare last week, incorporates a VCSEL array that is able to map an owner's facial features for the all-new "Face ID" recognition system. While Lumentum is believed to be providing the bulk of the early VCSELs for Apple, more widespread deployment beyond the 'X' phone is expected next year - with ams (among others) looking for a piece of the action.
