Wi-Charge gets $20M to scale infrared wireless chargers

20 May 2025

Tel Aviv startup says series C venture round includes support from European Innovation Council Fund.

Wi-Charge, an Israeli startup company that has developed infrared power-beaming technology to charge consumer electronics and other devices without the need for an electrical cable, says it has raised $20 million in a new round of venture funding.

Led by US-based Standard Investments, the series C effort included additional support from the European Innovation Council (EIC) Fund, which had already invested $13.4 million in the firm back in October 2021.

The Tel Aviv company says that it plans to use the latest funding to accelerate a commercial rollout across a number of sectors, including hospitality, smart home, commercial, retail, mobile devices, and augmented reality (AR) and wearables.

“The Series C round will help scale manufacturing, accelerate OEM integration, build out global distribution, and scale the commercialization team,” announced Wi-Charge. “With additional product launches and partnerships already in the pipeline, Wi-Charge is rapidly becoming the foundation for a wirelessly powered future.”

AirCord
Founded nearly 20 years ago by chief business officer Ori Mor and CTO Ortal Alpert, Wi-Charge is now led by CEO Victor Vaisleib, previously VP of the fiber-to-the-home unit at PMC-Sierra following the acquisition of his optical broadband startup Passave.

The company has developed its “AirCord” technology around devices that transmit and receive up to 300 mW of infrared power, enough to provide continuous over-the-air wireless charging at a distance of up to ten meters. The approach is said to be backed by more than 200 related patents.

“We’re seeing a wave of OEMs quickly moving to integrate wireless power, recognizing the value of offering freedom from wires and battery charging,” said Mor in a company release. “This funding helps us move faster and scale to meet these new demands.”

“We’re unlocking a new era of truly wireless living - eliminating cables and batteries, one product at a time,” he added. “As AR glasses, next-gen mobile devices, and edge AI hardware go mainstream, they’ll all need reliable, long-range power. This funding helps us move faster to meet that need - and to make sure our partners are leading the charge, not playing catch-up.”

And in a related blog post, marketing chief Renette Yousef wrote: “We’re focused on bringing wireless power to places it’s needed most, especially where wiring is hard, battery swaps don’t cut it, and uptime matters.

“Whether it’s powering digital signage in retail or offices, devices in hospitality, smart homes, and mobile devices, we’re building a platform for the next era of energy. This investment is a catalyst - but it’s just the beginning.”

Peter Marturano, Technology Sector Head at Standard Investments, commented: “Wi-Charge is at an inflection point with innovative technology, strong IP, and market timing converging.

“We believe Wi-Charge is uniquely positioned to lead the transformation to a wireless power future, and we’re excited to support the team as they scale to meet the potential for vast global demand.”
