Nvidia's new Spectrum-X Photonics network switches, scheduled to ship from the second half of 2026, include multiple configurations, for example 128 ports of 800Gb/s or 512 ports of 200Gb/s, to deliver a total bandwidth of 100Tb/s. The "Quantum-X" version will be even faster, and features liquid cooling for the on-board silicon photonics. The technology has been developed to support massive scaling-up of AI computing infrastructure that will enable millions of graphics processing units (GPUs), the "brains" of AI computation, to operate together while keeping power consumption manageable.
