HSG Laser opens new manufacturing facility in China

31 Dec 2024

Company also unveils ytterbium-doped fiber laser-based 120 kW laser cutter.

HSG Laser, a developer of metal shaping equipment and solutions, has announced the grand opening of its newest manufacturing facility in Jinan, China – a key milestone in its global manufacturing and supply strategy.

The “state-of-the-art facility” is expected to bolster HSG Laser’s expansive production network, complementing existing bases in Foshan, Suzhou, Bangkok, and other locations worldwide.

With an investment of US$ 68.3 million, the Jinan facility was fully self-funded, reflecting the firm calls its financial resilience. Positioned as one of 2024’s largest laser cutting equipment production projects, the development will play a significant role in achieving HSG’s goal of surpassing 10,000 units in annual global production capacity, the company stated.

“Beyond meeting the growing global demand for advanced laser cutting solutions, the Jinan base contributes significantly to local employment and economic growth,” said the associated announcement.

New 120 kW laser

This month’s grand opening ceremony featured the debut of HSG’s new 120 kW ultra-high-power laser cutting machine. Designed with a specialized high-power machine bed, the tool minimizes deformation during high-power cutting, ensuring ultra-high brightness, outstanding efficiency, and remarkable stability, the company stated.

Delivering twice the brightness of 100kW models and a transmission distance of up to 40 meters, the laser is equipped with fourth-generation ytterbium-doped fiber technology and third-generation, high-power transmission systems, designed to ensure stable energy output and superior beam quality.

The machine is specified to achieve “unparalleled cutting speed”, improving performance for thick metal sheets by 50% to 200%. Additionally, its advanced residual material system enhances production capacity by 200% and material utilization by 175%, significantly reducing costs and waste while promoting sustainable manufacturing practices.

HSG claims to have “deployed over 25,000 units worldwide by May 2024. This success is built on internationally recognized R&D expertise, enabling the delivery of innovative, high-quality solutions. Backed by research partnerships in Japan, strong recognition in Europe and the Americas, and a growing global manufacturing network, HSG Laser remains dedicated to driving industrial innovation.”
