Color center hardware
Photonic's novel approach to quantum computing harnesses the phenomenon of silicon color centers, or T centers, caused by defects in a silicon crystal lattice that sometimes absorb or emit light at telecom wavelengths. Connecting those centers via an optical fiber offers the potential for fault-tolerant quantum repeaters and processors, claims the Canadian startup. Photo: Business Wire.
