OIST’s optical-microfluidic lab on chip is economical to mass-produce. The wavelength of light absorbed by the nanospikes changes depending on its local environment. The principle is the basis for detecting the presence and quantity of antibodies, which are bound to the protein-covered nanospikes. Credit: OIST.
