Integrated photonics uses the power of light to create energy-efficient, faster, and more accurate microchips. The technology is set to play an essential role in finding and developing solutions for the world’s challenges, such as reducing energy consumption, improving healthcare, fighting food waste and our continuous hunger for information. As a foundry for integrated photonic circuits, SMART Photonics offers solutions for data and telecommunication, as well as for sensing – such as Lidar – and medical applications. And it doesn’t stop there.
SMART Photonics aims to be the leading foundry for integrated photonics, creating innovative products that improve people’s lives. |
As a part of SMART Photonics’ Product Integration Engineering team, we are seeking a talented and eager Photonics Device Engineer. In this role you connect analysis and optimization of performance of photonic integrated building blocks to their manufacturability.
Your expertise in designing photonic circuits and making connections between related processes, simulations and actual performance will contribute to the enhancement of our product portfolio. Join our team and be part of a dynamic environment, where you can make a significant impact in the advancement of photonics underlying technology!
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Analyse optical, electrical, and thermal behaviour of basic and complex components of photonic integrated circuits for optimizing our foundry;
- Work closely with process and design teams for connecting and optimizing PIC components layouts, layers, and design rules for manufacturability while keeping the same or better performance. Then focusing on their successful integration into our semiconductor manufacturing processes;
- Align manufacturing capability to customers’ needs on performance;
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by supporting Design of Experiments (DOE) and cornerstone studies to identify and improve key processing factors impacting PIC performance, drive their improvements, and establish robust design guidelines;
- Identify and troubleshoot potential design and performance issues, and propose innovative solutions to improve device performance, yield, and maturity;
- Drive the development and enhancement of simulation methodologies and tools for improving connection between device performance and manufacturability;
- Collaborate closely with our design, R&D, and manufacturing teams to enrich the content of our PDK;
