Job Description

The AOIL research is focused on developing novel high-resolution retinal imaging technology to study chorioretinal diseases and systemic conditions, such as age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, and hypertension. We are looking for enthusiastic people to join our team. 

Current research projects include in vivo imaging ultrastructure of age-related macular degeneration using the continuously evolving adaptive optics scanning laser ophthalmoscopy (AOSLO), in vivo study of higher-order retinal hemodynamics, and fluorescence biomarkers for chorioretinal diseases. The postdoctoral researchers will lead the development of novel adaptive optics retinal imaging technology, including high-resolution fluorescence lifetime imaging ophthalmoscopy, scanning laser ophthalmoscopy with an enhanced axial resolution, and high-speed optical coherence tomography, and publish milestone results timely in high-impact journals.

Job Requirements

Successful candidates are expected to have a PhD in Optics, Microscopy, or Biomedical Engineering. The following areas of expertise are preferred: retinal imaging (e.g., scanning laser ophthalmoscopy, optical coherence tomography), retinal disease, vision science, and computational programming in Visual C++, Matlab, or similar tools. The initial appointment is for one year and can be renewed for a long term based on performance. Salaries and benefits will follow the NIH salary sales.
