| Jeff Tsao and colleagues at Sandia say that the cost of light produced by SSL lamps (i.e. not the full fixture) became cheaper than incandescent lamps in 2008. If it continues to decrease at its past-several-year rate, that cost will reach parity with fluorescent and high-intensity discharge (HID) around 2012, although the cost of full luminaires could lag this curve by several years.
