Key Supplier
Crystran Ltd.
At Crystran we manufacture windows, lenses, prisms and specialist optics as both standard products and to the designs of our customers.

For over 25 years we have specialised in crystal materials and exotic glasses and used them to manufacture highly precise optical components for the Infrared, Ultraviolet and Visible regions of the spectrum. We are always available to advise on the best choice of materials. There are no menus on our telephone line, if you call you will speak to someone who can direct your enquiry immediately.

Being a manufacturing facility, we’ve an extremely broad global customer base, supplying to well-known OEM’s, academic institutes and a large number of component distributors and catalogue companies alike.

With a comprehensive range of cutting / polishing and inspection equipment we can offer a very fast turn-around for custom components both as a one-off or in volume. Additionally, we have stock of a huge range of more ‘standard’ optics which we can supply on a next-day delivery basis (see our WEBSHOP for more info).

Our long-list of OPTICAL MATERIALS that we in-house process includes:

VUV to NIR Applications
NIR to FIR Applications
Materialλ min (nm)λ max (µm)
Zinc Sulphide (ZnS)0.3713.5
Zinc Selenide (ZnSe)0.621
Germanium (Ge)1.823
Thallium Bromo-Iodide (KRS5)0.6540
Caesium Iodide (CsI)0.2555

The above tables comprise just a small subset of the materials we process.

In addition to a range of halides and chalcogenides, we have access to an ultra-high purity grade of CaF2 that’s ideal for Raman applications, having just a single raman peak at 321cm-1 (way outside areas of interest for bio-medical applications).

There are, of course, a whole host of other important optical / physical properties that are important when choosing the most suitable material for your application. These are all listed in our detailed HANDBOOK, which can be downloaded as a PDF, or we’d be happy to post your own hardcopy on request…
