Founded in 2020 and based in Sheffield, UK, Phlux Technology is a spin-out from the University of Sheffield, built upon eight years of intensive research into novel semiconductor materials. Phlux was founded to commercialize a breakthrough in infrared sensing technology – the company’s patented avalanche photodiode (APD). What began as academic innovation has rapidly evolved into a commercial reality, driven by a world-class team of creative problem solvers.

Today, Phlux Technology designs, manufactures and markets 1550 nm avalanche photodiode infrared (IR) sensors that are 12x more sensitive than alternatives, thanks to a patented compound semiconductor technology called Noiseless InGaAs®.
