The distribution of light intensity inside the water droplet. The spherical shape of the droplet makes it act as a microlens and focuses the laser light into a ‘hot spot’. The droplet is 22.6 µm across. The color scale shows the increase in light intensity in the droplet, with the red areas boosted by a factor of 100. (Credit: Lyon)
