Coherent has finally closed its acquisition of DeMaria ElectroOptics Systems for USD 22.5 million.
US-based laser manufacturer Coherent has renamed DeMaria ElectroOptics Systems (DEOS), US, to Coherent/DEOS. Coherent claims that the acquisition makes it the only manufacturer to offer sealed carbon dioxide lasers ranging in power from 26 to 500 watts.
"DEOS has an excellent engineering group that's developed some unique products," said Coherent's product line-manager for carbon dioxide lasers, Stephen Lee. "We can now offer an unparalleled range of solutions for a broad range of applications."
"DEOS has consistently produced reliable lasers while maintaining research and development," added Coherent's executive vice-president, John Ambroseo. "Their space-borne laser local oscillator is scheduled for deployment in 2003."
Coherent/DEOS will continue to operate from its US base in Connecticut.
