Linos Makes Successful Entry Into Telecommunications Market

LINOS Photonics has received a bulk order valued at approximately USD 23.5 million for delivery in 2001. The order, placed by a leading supplier to the telecommunications industry, is the largest single order in the company's history.

The order, received by the U.S. subsidiary LINOS Photonics Inc. (Milford, MA), for the supply of optical components for optical switching, leads to a substantial expansion of LINOS Photonics' U.S. business.
On the basis of this order, LINOS Photonics has managed to achieve an effective entry into the fast growing telecommunications market, which will be characterized by an increasing substitution of conventional electronic routers with optical switches, allowing much higher data transfer rates.
