New Wave Research acquires Merchantek

New Wave Research, a Californian manufacturer of small, pulsed Nd:YAG laser systems, has bought Merchantek, a maker of laser ablation equipment. New Wave hopes to expand into the laser ablation market and develop new technology in partnership with Merchantek.

The companies will each retain their branding but the manufacturing and business functions will take place in New Wave's California site. Merchantek's offices in Montana will become the engineering centre for both companies.
