Gore, Infineon to supply interchangeable fiberoptic links

W.L. Gore & Associates, Inc. (Newark, Delaware) and Infineon Technologies AG (Munich, Germany) have reached an agreement to supply interchangeable parallel optic communication modules. The data links will conform to a multi-source agreement but will be marketed and distributed independently. They will provide multi-sourced optical I/O capability beyond 15 Gbps and will integrate 12 parallel data channels into a single model using vertical cavity surface emitting lasers.
