Acton delivers filters for NASA mission

The University of Wisconsin (Madison, WI) has contracted Acton Research Corp. (Acton, MA) to provide a pair of high-rejection optical filters for the NASA-funded Wide-field Imaging Survey Polarimeter, a suborbital rocket payload designed to obtain wide-field polarimetric images of Comet Hale- Bopp. One filter, designed for the vacuum-ultraviolet spectral region, is centered at 166 nm; the other filter is designed for the ultraviolet spectral region and is centered at 270 nm. Total dollar value of the contract is $37,755; the payload is slated for launch in April 1997.
