Night-vision goggles with a 100-degree horizontal and 40-degree vertical field of view have been demonstrated by Night Vision (Lincolnwood, IL). The device developed under contract to the US Air Force Armstrong Laboratory, (Brooks AFB, TX) gives a 160% improvement over current goggles that restrict night flying at low altitudes. Future plans call for capability to superimpose aircraft and target information within the field of view.
