| The absorption profiles measured when laser output at 1847 nm was passed through water (top) and laser light at 1687 nm was passed through methane matches calculations based on the HITRAN (High-resolution Transmission Molecular Absorption) database, which contains the fingerprints of all known gas molecules. |
